Contrary to popular belief, Seattle doesn’t get that much rain. In fact, when you compare every single major city in the United States, Seattle doesn’t even crack the top 15 in terms of the most rainfall; that’s even including four cities in Florida!
So – it Never Rains in Seattle? Not by a Long Shot.
It wouldn’t be fair to sit here and tell you it never rains here, because it does. On average, it rains about 150 days of the year here; however, a majority of rainy days fall into our winter months. In fact, many Seattleites joke about the Atmospheric Rain Switch that flips right around Halloween. From October to March, we experience a lot of that stereotypical Seattle weather – grey skies, cool air, and the waves of misting rain. To prepare yourself, all it takes is a good rain jacket, some rain boots (or at least a water-resistant pair of shoes), and a weather-proof bag/backpack.
However once that Atmospheric switch flips back, Seattleites face very little to no rain, perfect temperatures, and sunshine. It’s basically perfect weather – take that unbearable Florida summers!
