Seattle Non-Profit is Hiring Information Specialists to Help the Community in a Big Way

Our client, a local non-profit crisis center, has an immediate need for Information & Referral Specialists to work Monday-Friday between 8 AM – 6 PM at their headquarters in North Seattle. In this role, you won’t just be picking up the phone – you will be helping the lives of Seattleites in real time. This is your opportunity to not only help others, bur develop skills and experience with listening and talking to people in crisis and emotional distress. After listening to callers, you will present them with information and referrals to local services that can help them solve their issue at hand. Many of the Information & Referral Specialists working for our client enjoy the aspect of meaningful work, fulfilling their passions for helping their community.

And honestly, they should feel good about the work they do! Each year, this client improves the lives of thousands – simply by listening, showing compassion, and linking to helpful services in the Seattle area. In 2014 alone, this non-profit responded to over 255,000 calls and online chats from community members in emotional distress. Believe it when we say there’s a lot of patience, teamwork, and manpower that goes into an organization like this! This is why our client needs additional Specialists – both Spanish/English bilinguals and English-only speakers – to continue to help this well-oiled machine improve lives in the Seattle community.

This Information & Referral Specialist role is a 40 hours per-week, contract opportunity with a potential for full-time hire. Hours for this Seattle non-profit are Monday-Friday between 8 AM – 6PM, with an hourly rate of $15/hour; however Spanish/English Bilingual speakers can make $16/hour.


  • Provide high quality information and referral services in to people who contact the Community Information Line (Spanish speakers preferred)
  • Offer assistance to callers using excellent communication skills
  • Utilize database to locate appropriate referral for caller


  • Basic computer skills required–typing speed 45wpm or more (REQUIRED)
  • If bilingual–MUST be fluent in both English and Spanish
  • Accurately enter call information into computer
  • Participate as a team member, sharing responsibilities, supporting team members with problem solving, offering constructive input

There may be some potential to do so! After working approximately 6 months at the office location, employees are scheduled to work in the office 3 or 4 days and from home 1 or 2 days per week. Of course, when working from home you will need a computer, high speed internet connection, land line, and a quiet area that is free from disruptions from family, roommates and pets.
