Welcome back! I’m going to assume that our “Why Should I Use LinkedIn?” Tip series has convinced you to already create and build your LinkedIn profile. If so, that’s awesome. If not, what on Earth are you waiting for?! LinkedIn is great about handing you job openings in your industry fresh out of the oven on a silver platter.
LinkedIn Jobs: Search, Bookmark and Apply for Open Jobs All in One Place
It seems natural that a professional social network offer some kind of job portal, but LinkedIn goes above and beyond the call of duty. Not only does it have a large number of jobs in various industries available at the click of a mouse, but it frequently offers its users suggestions (“Jobs you may be interested in”) based on the skills and experience listed in their profiles. Though, if you’re looking for jobs that LinkedIn isn’t showing you automatically, they make it easy to tweak and create multiple searches based on your needs.
It is also increasingly common to see LinkedIn profiles acting as users’ resumes when applying for jobs. More often than not, you will find a blue button on a job listing’s page that reads “Apply with LinkedIn.” In fact, each one of Parker’s job listings include the option to apply to a job using your LinkedIn profile. This makes it much easier for those who may be on-the-go to apply for that job quickly and efficiently. Though, if you’re a purist and believe that uploading your resume is the best option, you can always bookmark any job you see on LinkedIn, then find it in your “Saved Jobs” when you return to the site later.
LINKEDIN JOBS: THERE’S AN APP FOR THAT
For those that love their mobile apps and real-time notifications, stop what you’re doing and download the LinkedIn Job Search app. Currently available on the Apple App Store and Google Play, this free app offers all the tools of LinkedIn’s desktop job search, but also offers automatic job recommendations and notifications in real-time. Not only that, but the capability to apply to jobs with your LinkedIn profile is still available, so applying for a job you’ve had your eye on is as easy as 1-2-3.
It’s also easy to view jobs you’ve already applied for, your saved jobs and multiple saved searches… the list of benefits can go on & on. Just one question – are you convinced yet?
